Cutoff Totes

In the fall of every year, I make a series of what I call "urban totes." These are intended to fit in a modern lifestyle as a classy way to carry around all the accouterments we accumulate these days. Things like cell phones, remotes, batteries, chargers, medicines, wallets, pens, pencils, nail files, car keys, etc.

Using one of my totes, you can move all your necessities around with you. Take them to the bedroom, to the living room, to the den, to the deck. Even, I'm told, to the hospital.

I try to use up a lot of the hardwood cutoffs from previous projects. I accumulate lots of  cutoffs that are too small for my chest projects.

I use colorful print fabric wrapped around Masonite inserts for linings. These can be removed and recovered if you wish.

These are all finished with hand-rubbed TruOil®, a premium gunstock finish.

I make these things to use up beautiful wood leftovers, but also to produce relatively inexpensive items for holiday gifts.

These are this fall's creations:

I will offer these for sale at the upcoming Enon Apple Butter Festival in October, and then post them for sale on my ETSY site (see link). - sgb
